Reading Passage
Traveling to new places is one of the most exciting experiences in life. Last summer, Emma decided to visit Portugal for the first time. She had always dreamed of exploring the beautiful beaches and tasting the famous pastéis de nata.
Emma spent two wonderful weeks in Lisbon and Porto. She wandered through narrow cobblestone streets, visited ancient castles, and enjoyed fresh seafood at local restaurants. On her third day, she took a day trip to the picturesque town of Sintra, where she was amazed by the colorful Pena Palace on the hilltop.
One of the best parts of her trip was meeting friendly locals who helped her practice her Portuguese. Although she struggled with the language at first, people were patient and kind. She also discovered that trying local food was the best way to understand a culture. From grilled sardines to bacalhau, every meal was a new adventure.
Emma returned home with unforgettable memories and a strong desire to travel more. She realized that stepping out of your comfort zone is the key to personal growth. She has already started saving money for her next trip.
